🎉Celebrating Women in STEM: Meet Harriet Effah!🎉

Must Read

I am Harriet Effah, currently in my third year studying Computer Engineering at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

Ever wonder how simply clicking an icon on your desktop triggers a chain of events on your computer? That curiosity led me to pursue computer engineering. I marveled at how seemingly complex devices are actually easy to operate, with countless instructions running seamlessly in the background.

However, being a woman in STEM has its challenges, from navigating confusing courses to competing in male-dominated fields like computer engineering. Yet, I found strength in communities like She Codes Africa and Django Girls, where women support each other to defy stereotypes and succeed. Their message was simple: “Never give up; you can do anything once you put your mind to it.” This message of perseverance inspired me when I developed my first shopping website, proving that with determination, anything is possible.

My advice to aspiring women in STEM is simple: seek mentorship, build a supportive network, and never stop learning. Together, we’re shaping a future where women thrive in STEM roles, driving innovation for a sustainable world!
