My name is Abena Tenkoramah Sampong Sasu. I am a chemistry graduate from KNUST, and I currently work as an administrator for Any Component Lab (ACL) and Triple Dimension Fabrication Works.
As the administrator of these two thriving companies, I’ve stumbled upon a newfound love for the world of electronics and engineering. Once upon a time, I hardly spared a thought for the intricate inner workings of the devices and machines that surrounded me. I simply saw them as tools of convenience to perform tasks efficiently. But now, as I learn about how these devices are made, from the smallest resistor to the most complex microcontroller, I have been enlightened to the boundless possibilities of technology. I have been exposed to electronics and embedded systems, 3D printing, laser cutting, plasma cutting, CNC machining, and other manufacturing processes. I have met and interacted with a lot of brilliant minds who are involved in exciting tech projects and making an impact both locally and on a global scale.
This journey has transformed my perspective, igniting a desire to explore and innovate like never before. I now see the world through a new lens. I am exploring innovative solutions to societal challenges, collaborating with diverse teams from around the world, and empowering individuals, especially students, to build critical thinking and problem-solving skills through hands-on experimentation and prototyping.
To every young girl reading this, and to all my fellow women, dare to dream big. Whatever field you find yourself in, aspire to make a resounding positive impact. And while it might seem biassed, I encourage you not to hesitate about pursuing STEM fields. It is a wonderful sector that offers boundless opportunities to shape the world for the better. In the words of ACL’s motto, let’s “build, design, and deploy” innovative solutions for a brighter future.
Happy International Women’s Day!
